Synopsis: In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa's powers for his own dark ends.

With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister's war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move and that one of their own has betrayed them.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, though her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will; the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?

As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

My Review:   Cassandra Clare has done it again. What has she done, you ask? Well she’s the only author that has made me love both of the guys in a love triangle for two full books. That takes skill.

In Clockwork Prince Tessa grows closer to Jem. We see a completely different side of Jem, one that I wasn’t expecting. While Tessa and Jem become close, Will is searching for the cure to a curse a demon put on him. At the same time Charlotte is fighting to keep her institute but it may prove more difficult than ever because there is a traitor among them.

As I said before I believe this is the only series where I love both of the guys in the love triangle. That doesn’t mean I haven’t picked a favorite, though.

Jem is just plain sweet. He genuinely loves Tessa but he blind to Will’s love for Tessa. Jem is fragile because of his sickness but he’s strong at the same time. Jem is one of my favorite characters but if I had to choose between him and Will, I would pick Will, no question. There’s just something about Will that I absolutely love. Sure he can be jerk but he’s only being that way so he can protect the people he loves, he also has a softer side for Tessa that I can’t help but love.

I also love the humor in the book, especially the whole part about the demon pox. I even have Will’s song memorized because I reread the song so many times. I think I read Cassandra Clare’s books for the characters and the humor.

This book literally killed me. I could not stop crying after I finished it. I have a feeling Clockwork Princess is going to kill me, bring me back to life, and then kill me again because no matter how it ends I know I’m going to be sobbing.

PatientlyImpatiently waiting for Clockwork Princess.
